| The Occupational Therapy consult begins with a complete assessment of the individual. An individual program is developed according to the resident’s needs and abilities. Areas of treatment frequently include those activities most of us have come to take for granted: eating, dressing, bathing, homemaking, and meal preparation are among the most common skills needing development and adaptation. Therapies include muscle strengthening, eye-hand coordination, and use of adaptive equipment as needed. A regular kitchen area is utilized for reinforcement of safe techniques in meal preparation. |
Conditions which may require splints include arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, stroke, advancing Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s Disease. Residents requiring splints will be pleased to know our therapy department molds each one individually. While ready-made splints are available, many residents find custom-molded splints to be more comfortable.
Individuals requiring assistance in maintaining proper body alignment also benefit from our Occupational Therapists. Individual attention is given to the comfort and proper positioning of all of our residents.
